This painting captures the onset of spring in Russia. To many—especially those from southern countries—this time of year might still feel like winter. Snow still lies on the ground, cold winds blow, and snow even falls at times. Yet, something has already shifted.
The sun shines more brightly and lingers longer in the sky. Its warmth is often deceptive: one moment you feel the heat of the sun, and the next, the chill of the wind. March is a transitional period—a balance between winter and spring.
Above all, I wanted to capture the atmosphere of this season: the fresh air, the first signs of nature awakening, and that unmistakable sense that winter is losing its grip. Spring has not yet arrived, but it is already on its way.
